Piclo

Designing and building a scalable, public-facing energy market directory. A novel tool spanning 1,100+ pages across buyers and programmes worldwide
July 2025

Piclo operates a global marketplace connecting energy buyers and sellers across flexible electricity markets. As the company expanded internationally, it needed a public-facing directory to make thousands of buyer profiles and market opportunities discoverable and navigable at scale.

The work involved designing the information architecture from scratch in collaboration with the product team, then building the page templates in Webflow. I worked on a custom data pipeline using Google Sheets and Whalesync, opening up content contribution to the wider team without requiring Webflow access or additional licences. I worked with the engineering team to integrate an interactive map into the front-end design and build.

The directory launched in mid-2025 and has continued to grow since. The pipeline and template system has proven robust enough for the wider team to maintain and expand independently, with over 1,100 live pages and counting.

I've had the pleasure of working with Dom at Piclo for three years. As a Brand Designer, he combines impeccable visual craft with strong technical execution. Whether working on shaping the visual identity or building our website, Dom consistently delivers top-quality design that is scalable, well-structured, and thoughtful in its implementation. He has played a key role in advancing the design discipline at Piclo, generously sharing his expertise in tools such as Figma and Webflow, and contributing to the maintenance and evolution of our Design System. Beyond his skills, Dom is a joy to collaborate with: reliable, collaborative, and an excellent team player. Any team would be lucky to have him.

Brand projects start by getting clear on what a business needs to say and who it needs to reach. I work with founders and teams to define positioning and tone before moving into visual design, creating identities that are practical, adaptable, and built to be used across real touchpoints, not just as a logo.

Web projects are designed and built with usability and performance in mind. I use Webflow to keep design and development closely aligned, paying attention to layout, responsiveness, and considered motion. Alongside visuals, I factor in structure, SEO and AEO fundamentals, and accessibility so the site works properly across devices and contexts.

Print work is designed with production in mind from the outset. I consider format, materials, colour space, and print specifications early on, setting files up correctly so there are no surprises at handover. The focus is on work that feels deliberate and well resolved once it’s printed, not just on screen.
